Sandhill Cranes

I work at the local Country Club as a bar cart girl.  I love my job.  I get to drive around in a golf cart towing a trailer full of goodies for the members.  Essentially I am beer on wheels.  While I'm out there I get to observe a bit of beautiful nature.   The Sandhill Cranes live out on the course and I see them flying a lot and can hear them all the time but today I was super lucky and got about 25ft away from them!  They were surprisingly not that scared of me.  I got to see them twice!   I need to start bringing a better camera to work, but I'm glad my phone takes decent pictures!
These birds are huge!

A modified BLT !

Today's Lunch!  I could eat this every day and it's part of my eating plan for Insanity!
A Sandwich Thin, 3 pieces of extra lean Turkey Bacon, 1 slice of Pepper Jack Cheese, 1 slice of tomato, a handful of Spinach and topped with fresh squeezed lemon juice!
I threw the sandwich thin topped with the turkey bacon and cheese into the oven on broil for a few minutes to get the cheese melted.

I guess it's a BST+C.  A Bacon, spinach, tomato + cheese!

Stunning, Wild Country

My childhood was heavily influenced by the vast expanse of the Montana countryside.  I grew up outside of the city with the woods as my backyard and with the encouragement of my family to use the land to its fullest.  To me, this series has become a reflection on the land and the minimal human impact affecting it.  It is a demonstration of the beauty offered to us here in Montana with the reminder that we have access to enjoy such stunning, wild country.

Using my Holga for this series captured the landscapes in a perfect way.  The softer focus from the lens gives the images a dreamy feel replicating that majestic look and the sensation that it is almost too beautiful to be real.  The vignetted square format creates a look to the images that make it seem as if you could be standing there seeing these landscapes through your own eyes.

As I grow older and my view of the world has matured, I have an ever increasing gratefulness and pride that I grew up in Montana.  I have a desire to see more of the world and enjoy the beauty other places have to offer, but inside me I know that I will always return home.

These are the images from my spring final this semester.  I shot them with my Holga and Kodak Portra 400 film and scanned them.

Watermark

Chokecherry Blossoms In the Rain, May 27, 2012

I spent the evening trying to come up with a watermark for my photography.  Its harder than thought.  Here is what I have for now, who knows it'll most likely change.

Montana May

Snow and rain, May 27th 2012

Its a Winter Wonderland at my house right now. We had over 7" on the ground this morning.  Not even a week ago it was somewhere close to 80 degrees out...

Before Picture

Well, here it is... The not so flattering Before picture. (courtesy of little bro's photography skills)  And I suppose its not supposed to be.  This is supposed to be my motivation to rid myself of those muffin tops!
A quote I read a while ago, probably on Pinterest or something, said, (roughly)
"Putting on a pretty shirt over your muffin tops does not make you a cupcake."
I have finished 5 days of Insanity.  Today was brutal.
The eating plan that goes along with it is a little challenging as I LOVE to eat delicious food.  But the plan certainly isn't a diet.  According to my height, weight, activity level, etc., I should be eating almost 2500 calories a day!  I have been eating very healthy and counting calories (a totally new thing for me) and I feel that I am by no means starving myself in anyway, and I am getting to about only 1500 at the end of every day! I have a feeling it will catch up to me soon though and I will be wanting my full 2500!
Uhh. Looking at this photo makes me cringe.  But I guess it is reminding me why I decided to start this craziness.
It is time for bed.  I have to get myself up for workout #6 in the morning before work!

My life is INSANITY

So my boyfriend's room mate started the INSANITY work out last summer and he had great results. This last spring semester my workout time took a hit and i barely got to the gym. He kept bugging me about starting up Insanity with him, but I wasn't sure I was ready to commit to that. But as I'm preparing to leave for Italy in the fall, (eeeee!!) I wanted to get in pretty good shape and lose a few. Randomly one night at about 2 in the morning I found myself ordering Insanity offline. I just completed day 3. Holy poop. I'll try to get my (oh so beautiful) before picture up and then we can do some comparing after month one and then month two!

Beginning To Blog!

I have to start somewhere.  Hopefully this will blossom into an outlet for my art, travel, growth, and all other things worth noting.
Everyday I am One Step Closer in my personal discovery and these will be my notes along the way.
